Episode 4 – Game Awards, Zelda Trailer and MURDER?

Dave and Mitch discuss self driving cars.

On this episode of Flogging a Dead Podcast, Dave and Mitch break new ground by talking about the new Pokemon games and the Nintendo Switch again. Just kidding.

Naughty Dog made some cool announcements. There’s going to be a Last of Us: Part II, because why not? There’s also going to be some new Uncharted 4 DLC.

Nintendo is going to have it’s own area at Universal theme parks. That is one hell of a good idea. Dave wants a Zelda dungeon, Mitch wants a Luigi’s Mansion haunted house.

Mitch then brings up self driving cars, and him and Dave discuss the future of automotive transportation to the best of their knowledge.

Dave then gets overly excited about a murder story, and proceeds to talk about Canadian murder stories for about 20 minutes. Hey, we never said this podcast was going to be all fun and games.

Episode 3 – Reddit Drama, Canada Drama and Black Friday

Mitch and Dave try not to talk about politics too much.

On this episode of Flogging a Dead Podcast, Dave and Mitch predictably talk about Pokemon again. Not much else to say about that. They go on to talk about a lot of Canadian things.

If you’re not a Canadian, you’re probably ignorant to the fact that we totally get completely fucked over for our cell phone plans, and don’t have a way around it. That is, until our glorious savoir Wind Mobile burst onto the scene offering an unlimited data plan for less than 30 bucks. Only issue being: their service is awful because they have to build all of the network infrastructure themselves. They recently were bought out big a much bigger company called Shaw, and are introducing LTE service. Mitch is mad because he isn’t getting grandfathered into it, and would have to upgrade his plan to something more expensive. Listen to Mitch bitch.

The Reddit CEO made a boo boo when he edited a user’s comment, calling into question the integrity of the whole site as a reliable platform for information. Mitch catches us up on the drama.

Our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may have been a little too soft on his official statement of Cuban dictator Fidel Casto’s death. He went as far to say he consider’s his father to be a close friend of Mr. Castro’s, in a statement that Justin mean’t to be on behalf of all Canadians. Sometimes, that guy….

Snapchat spectacles are now a thing: a pair of shades that can also take video of what you’re currently seeing. Dave and Mitch try to wrap their 23 year old minds around a concept that probably should be intended for millennials, but seems to still be lost on them.

Up until recently, Black Friday wasn’t really a big thing in Canada like it is in the states. In the past couple years or so, we have seen a surge in Black Friday adverts for Canadian shops. Mitch and Dave talk about Black Friday in Canada as it compares to Black Friday in the States.

Episode 2 – Pokémon Sun and Moon & Exploding Graphics Cards

Mitch and Dave discuss Pokemon and Explosions.

On the second episode of Flogging a Dead Podcast (the podcast that bravely takes about all of the stuff other podcasts already talk about,) Mitch and Dave talk about the new Pokemon game that came out this past Friday. Dave has seen to have taken a liking to it. Despite being a 3DS game, it has no 3D capability (and not a single person on earth cared.) Seriously though, it’s evident Nintendo and Game Freak were not afraid to make some changes to the Pokemon formula this time around. Dave has the details.

Graphics cards are exploding. For serious. Is your computer affected? IS YOUR FAMILY AT RISK?!? If you have a non reference EVGA 1070 or 1080, you may want to consider not using it until it is replaced.

Mitch saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a special effect packed beast of a motion picture, that sticks to the Harry Potter theme and message, without pandering to the audience by reusing any of the main series Harry Potter characters. Mitch is then informed that they’re planning on making FIVE of these Fantastic Beasts movies, and disappointment is had.

Episode 1 – Flogging a Dead Podcast: Nintendo Switch and Playstation VR

Dave and Mitch talk about the Nintendo Switch, Playstation VR and more!

Mitch and Dave kick off Flogging a Dead Podcast: the only podcast that fearlessly talks about all of the stuff podcasts already talk about. We ramble about things like the Skyrim, the Playstation VR, and of course, the Nintendo Switch. Give it a listen!

While on a hopeless journey to find a NES Classic Mini, Dave and I stumbled across a Playstation VR demo at the EB Games. We tried it out, and besides a few hardware issues, it’s surprisingly usable, and the Arkham VR demo was cool! We however have reservations about the price and the amount of setup needed.

I (Mitch) who am historically a big Apple fanboy give my two cents on the Macbook announcement from last week. USB-C is objectively the way of the future, but being unable to use any USB device without an adapter while the rest of the world catches up is not a compromise worth making.
